US Forces in Afghanistan have released aerial footage of the Massive Ordnance Air Blast (MOAB) strike on an Islamic State cave and tunnel systems in the Achin district on Thursday.
Today reports are emerging that this massive ordinance was used in a strike that killed only 36 militants. This has led to the ex-Afghan President Karzai condemned the use of the MOAB in “strongest words”.
“This is not the war on terror but the inhuman and most brutal misuse of our country as testing ground for new and dangerous weapons,” he wrote on Twitter.
“It is upon us, Afghans, to stop the USA.”
Yet, the US commanders are quoted as saying the strike was “highly effective”.
The Afghan defence ministry said it laid waste to the caves and ammunition caches but had not caused any civilian casualties.
“No civilian has been hurt and only the base which Daesh used to launch attacks in other parts of the province was destroyed,” spokesman Dawlat Waziri said.
The M.O.A.B., the largest non-nuclear device ever dropped at 21,000lbs, with the technical name of the GBU-43/B Massive Air Blast Bomb, is more commonly referred to as the MOTHER OF ALL BOMBS. The US has purchased 20 of the MOAB’s for $314 million, puting the cost of one MOAB in the region of $17 million.
$17 million to take out 36 suspected militants. That is good business for the Military-Industrial-Complex if you ask me!
Some say that Trump is doing a U-Turn from his campaign rhetoric, but he never hid his desire to take out ISIS, wherever they are.
So, is this just a case of Trump unleashing his forces on ISIS & terrorists wherever they may be?
Well, in my opinion the use of this weapon, and the timing of it, was not only to rout any terrorist fighters in that area, but to send a message around the globe to people such as Assad in Syria & probably directed at “Little Kim” in North Korea. Trump and his military were literally waving their manhood in the faces of their enemies!
Just as with every other war in the past, in particular the Vietnam war, Afghanistan is now being used as a testing ground for new weapons for future conflicts.
The question is, will Trump go one step further when it comes to that next conflict, probably a strike on N.Korea… Will he go nuclear?
